Pictured and explained in detail below is the beautifully restored ’66 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Convertible that we sold on 6-20-12…
This big cruiser was beautifully body-on-the-frame restored two years ago by my good friend, restoration expert Paul Taylor of Arroyo Grande, CA. The car is a genuine pleasure to drive and floats down the road like a big Olds should. It is loaded with desirable factory options/features that all work properly, including the clock, heater, and radio. The silver metallic paint restoration is of professional quality as is the fully redone red interior. A new power top was installed during the restoration and it works just as it did from the factory.
The engine was fully rebuilt in August of 2011 by Jasper Engines. The engine starts and runs like a “fine watch” with plenty of power and torque. The big mill was nicely repainted after the rebuild. It was bored .040 over as part of the work so the original 425 in now about 435 cubic inches.
While the engine was under rebuild I had the Turbo 400 automatic transmission (which was working just fine but leaking a little) pressure tested, resealed with a new modulator and new filter installed. The Turbo 400 shifts smooth and quiet like when it was new with no leaks. The tranny was also cleaned and re-painted during the work.
