Our true Super Sport ’62 Impala 2-door hardtop (See video below and slide show at the bottom of this page). We sold this beauty on 12/17/12 do some great people in Sparks Nevada. This car is the result of a full top-quality restoration by world-famous glass artist Dale Chihuly of Seattle, Washington. The car was purchased from Chihuly by Cinema Vehicle Services of California and has been stored and driven very infrequently since the restoration.
I bought the car in May of 2010. It is a “mild RestoMod” powered by a nicely detailed 283 Chevy small block . It is equipped with an Edelbrock 4-bbl carb, Sanderson Hugger Headers and an aluminum radiator. The engine runs better than when the car left the showroom and stays nice and cool even in the hot Texas summer days. The automatic transmission is a Turbo 350 with a shift kit, upgraded from the original Powerglide and in perfect working condition. The car has front disc brakes, great looking Progressive wheels and a very high quality professional Teal-colored paint job. This classic Impala runs and drives better than when she was new and everything works as it should including the clock, radio and heater.
Update - The new owners sent me an e-mail in early august with a couple of pictures. They replaced the Progressive wheels with American Racing wheels. They said they really love the car and that it won Best in Show at July 4th “Summer Salute”. Great people and I am so glad they love the car. My wife just told me that she really misses it….
I just recently found out that the folks mentioned above have now sold the car to gentlemen that lives up in the state of Washington (wjere it was first restored). He actually called me and told me how much he loved this car.
